Part-Time OR Full-Time | Laguna Beach | Luxury Interior Architecture + Design Studio

Jen Samson Design (JSD), a Laguna Beach–based interior design studio with projects

across the U.S. and abroad, is seeking an organized and motivated Interior Design

Studio Assistant to join our team.

This role is ideal for a highly detail-oriented and eager-to-learn professional with a prior

experience in luxury residential interior design. As part of JSD, you will support the

operations and design team in the execution of bespoke, design-forward projects while

gaining valuable hands-on studio experience in a collaborative, creative environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the design and operations team in day-to-day project execution

• Order and track samples; establish new vendor accounts as needed

• Organize, label, and maintain the studio’s sample library (fabrics, trims,

wallpaper, tile, finish materials)

• Update and maintain Keynote presentations, project binders, and client

documents

• Assist with logistics coordination including deliveries, shipments, and project

tracking

• Provide general studio support, ensuring the design team has resources

prepared and organized for client presentations and meetings

Qualifications & Requirements

• 1–2 years of experience in a professional Interior Design studio

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design or related field

• Proficiency in Keynote, Pages, Numbers, Gmail, and Dropbox

• Foundational knowledge of fabrics, trims, wallpaper, tile, and finish materials

• Highly detail-oriented with strong organizational and time-management skills

• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, team-focused attitude

• Must be able to work on-site at JSD’s Laguna Beach studio (this is not a remote

role)

Jen Samson Design (JSD), a Laguna Beach–based interior design studio with projects

spanning the U.S. and abroad, is seeking a skilled and proficient Architectural

Designer & Draftsperson to join our team. This role is ideal for a highly technical,

organized, detail-oriented and design-minded professional with strong drafting and

rendering abilities and a passion for precision.

As part of JSD, you will collaborate on design-forward residential projects

contributing to every stage from concept through completion.

Key Responsibilities

• Produce accurate and code compliant AutoCAD drawings, including floor

plans, elevations, section cuts, RCPs, and custom millwork details and custom

shop drawings for our bespoke JSD furniture.

• Develop detailed interior design documents, drawing sets, and design

packages for high-end residential projects.

• Create photo-realistic renderings and visualizations that clearly communicate

design intent, when necessary.

• Translate design concepts into highly detailed technical drawings, ensuring all

functionality and compliance is considered while preserving creative integrity.

• Collaborate with the design and project management teams to ensure

deliverables meet aesthetic and technical standards within project schedules

and budgets.

• Revise drawings based on redlines, client feedback, and ongoing project

developments. Communicate redlines when submitted from key partners.

• Support the coordination of finish plans, specifications, and material

selections.

• Review and annotate shop drawings to confirm alignment with design intent.

• Participate in studio meetings and project site visits as needed.

• Balance multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining accuracy, detail, and

consistency.

Qualifications & Requirements

• 3+ years of professional experience in interior design or architectural drafting

(luxury residential preferred).

• Strong understanding of residential building code compliance, construction

methods and interior architectural detailing.

• Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Revit• Strong rendering skills with expertise in Adobe Photoshop and visualization

software — renderings are required.

• Familiarity with AI-based design tools is a plus.

• Excellent organization, precision, and attention to detail.

• Self-motivated, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively

in a fast-paced design studio.

• Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly interpret and convey

design concepts.

• Must work on-site in our Laguna Beach studio, 3-5 days a week (this is not a

remote or hybrid role).

• Flexibility to travel as needed for site visits and project coordination.
